Post-Accident Transportation in BC: How to Verify ICBC Rental Car Coverage and Eligibility
Browse the insurance glossaryTransportation Eligibility and Claim Reporting Process
When a vehicle is undrivable, unsafe to drive, or being repaired due to a reported claim, you may be eligible for reimbursement of rental car, public transit, rideshare, or taxi expenses. After reporting the claim, an ICBC claims representative will confirm coverage and next steps; purchasing Loss of Use on its own, or as part of a RoadStar or RoadSide Plus package, may provide transportation eligibility.
Coverage Limits and Vehicle Restrictions
If you have purchased Loss of Use and your vehicle meets the conditions listed on this page, you may begin using transportation once the claim is accepted; this coverage has aggregate and daily limits and is limited to a vehicle of similar size to your own.
Designated Suppliers and Direct Billing
When you use an ICBC-designated rental supplier and coverage has been confirmed, the rental company may bill ICBC directly.
