Optiq Gets Its First Scratch 😔 Will a Claim Skyrocket My Premium?
Browse the insurance glossaryIn a very small parking lot, the car is too long and I scraped the front bumper while turning.
Getting this fixed under warranty would cost around $4,000. Based on my experience with gas cars, the worst that happens is the second-year premium uses a 1.0 factor instead of the 0.76 discount (even if the repair costs tens of thousands). But I've heard that new energy vehicles are a bit different.... I'd like to ask if anyone has filed a claim before—how much of an impact does it have on the next year's premium?
Some say that if an EV gets into one claim and you're unlucky, the second-year premium jumps straight to a 1.3 factor.... Has anyone with an Optiq filed a claim? How was your second-year premium? This damage isn't that serious.... I came back and polished it myself with rubbing compound, and it's not really that noticeable on the door. If the premium really goes up that much, I might as well just leave it unrepaired and wait for the free touch-up paint voucher at renewal.
